The announcement text: The press office is looking for an exceptional individual to join the team, helping to shape and deliver excellent external communications for Life, International and Banking businesses.
Co-ordinating and carrying out the day to day duties of a typical press office including providing out of hours service as required, developing press releases, articles and briefings and responding to media enquiries
Supporting the developing business strategy
Keeping yourself and your contacts abreast of company and industry developments.
Developing and maintaining relationships, respect and understanding with both the business and journalists


The key objectives of the role are to assist in the planning and delivery of the PR strategy, which includes promoting the core brand, as well as the products and services of the integral business units
You will be required to design, research, write and place press releases, articles or briefings which are adopted and featured in key target media,
seeking out and optimising opportunities to gain a greater share of positive coverage via key target media
Responding within given deadlines to media enquiries; ensuring journalists` needs are met where value is added to the business
Working with the business to develop and maintain an effective media relations strategy as part of business continuity planning


You will need to have a minimum of 3-5 yrs previous financial services experience
Crisis-management expertise
Good all-round knowledge of the financial services industry
Established relationships with key financial journalists
Ability to manage a number of activities simultaneously and to prioritise work under pressure
Sound judgement – to assess situations and develop appropriate strategies to deal with them
Professional, confident and assertive approach.
You must be highly motivated to achieve goals, with a flexible approach to meet the needs of a compact 24 hour press office function
You will need to be well-organised and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Real attention to detail – ensuring accuracy of information despite working to demanding deadlines will be one of your strengths
